Linkyfest

Since joel's out in grand KY, I'm posting some links.
going to hell? quiz I got a 132. Definitely going to hell.

Well, well, welll

ETSU has a new logo in an effort to bring in new students.

[R]ecent ETSU graduate Samuel Mays, founder of the design studio Freshpunch, created the logo to promote the position of the university as a leader within the region. The mountains were used as a significant element, and “rays of light” were added to pinpoint the university’s location.

Now I'm just wondering what will they put on their ETSU Pride flags?

ooh!

Keeping up with the women's gold-medal match online with the matchtracker- it has text updates.
1-1 into overtime and the head ref has a pulled hamstring. This is so exciting!

Just a boy and a girl in a little canoe

Yesterday was lovely- TCB and I went up to Turkey Run, rented a canoe
and went down Sugar Creek on an 11.5 mile journey. We should really
have gone canoeing before rafting (earlier this summer) or brought our
lunch along, because we got down that supposedly 5-or-6-hour trip in
about 3.5. Since they just have designated pick-up times, we waited and
waited for the bus to come get us. But I re-learned how to skip rocks!

Then we went hiking around the park, doing the trail with the ladders
and the stream and the canyons, listening to the thunder and rain and
getting wet, and driving home really tired. So we stopped at Wal-mart,
got a puzzle and zoned out to the Olympics.

A long night sleepless

Last night it stormed and my block lost power. Had I been in my old apartment (across the street) I would have kept power. It was exciting, getting out my emergency candles (no joke, that's what the container says) and sitting in the sunroom with the Angus. I really like those candles- bright and the take forever to burn. I might have to look into getting some more for everyday use. I've become a big fan of candles, since they're a cheap light source and not super bright like my overhead lights.
But when I was taking out my contacts by candlelight, I had a flash of being back in Scotland. Just needed a few pints to complete the picture.

Part II of the tail

When we caught a mouse, Colleen would take it out back and kill it with
a hammer but Colleen wasn't home when this unfortunate mouse was
caught. So we put the mouse-trap combination into a paper bag and
walked across the street to the Fiji house, intending to give it to
whoever opened the door. Nobody was home, it seemed, so we went over to
Upstairsville and told HM that we had a present for her. As we handed
her the bag, the mouse moved and Holly screamed.
Turns out, her boyfriend's first apartment had a mouse problem and they
used to chase her around with the decapitated bodies.
Off we trotted to the Theta Xi house to see if they would kill our
mouse for us.

A better one?

It'd been known for a while that we had mice at the DDD house; I could hear them run across the ceiling at night. I was sitting at my desk on evening, working on homework, when I heard rustling in the papers behind me. I turned to look, threw my shoe and a mouse ran out and underneath a bookshelf. Utilizing the boxes still in my room, I covered all means of escape for our mouse and walked upstairs to find a trap.

Me (to the girls watching tv in the formal room): Where can I fine a mouse trap?
Them: I think there's one in a drawer or something.

Poking around, I found one under the sink- a sticky one. Downstairs, I made a chute for the mouse with the sticky trap in it. Then I banged on the metal bookcase with a baseball bat. Hearing nothing, I figured the mouse had fled prior to my mousetrap arrangement but, looking back there, I found the mouse quite stuck. Upstairs:

Me: What do I do with a mouse if I catch one?
Them: Uh, kill it? Take it outside? Not really sure.
Me: Well, I've caught one.
Them: [sudden rush downstairs to see it and take pictures]

So

Is it pre-marital sex if you have no intention of getting married?

Arrangement

The hole in the wall finally fixed, I set up my bed last night with a plan in mind. This plan didn't work exactly as I'd hoped and I need some help. Right now, as depicted in the image below, the bed is both in front of the a/c (located on the floor) and has neither head nor foot up against a wall (for support). The bed will fit in the space between the doot and the wall currently containing the dresser, but that increases the risk of drunken head injury: the door comes within inches of the bed when open. Turning the bed sideways leaves a very narrow turn-yourself-sideways gap. Any of these sound best/ any other suggestions?

It's a feature

After replacing the batteries in my doorbell receiver, I found another
apartment feature too early this morning: my doorbell operates on the
same frequency as my neighbor's.

Apt update

Returning to my apartment, I found that the inconveniently placed in
my narrow bedroom was still there— I cannot move into the bedroom,
really at all, until i can put my dresser in the hole-in-the-wall
location, scoot the bookshelf into the dresser's current place, and
then set up my bed opposite the remaining space. Were I to put my bed
and dresser opposite each other, I would not be able to open the
drawers.
Other than that, the apartment's great and has a dishwasher, back porch
and garden area. And a normal-sized kitchen (the one in the other
apartment was in a former closet.)

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!

I have returned from the away game at Toledo relatively unscathed, ready to start unpacking my apartment. Hopefully I am returning to a locked apartment with a clean carpet and without a hole in the wall.

After waking up on a futon on the floor in my messy full-of-boxes room, climbing over more boxes to get out of the room and then sitting on a cushion to stare at the wall while I thought about eating and read comics, I remembered, "Ooh! I have doughnuts!"

The highlight of being in my apartment today.

Joel's Back!

Spent last night trying to take apart me bed. for something that falls apart in the middle of the night, it sure didn't want to disassemble.

23!

Not much to talk about today- I had fun last night.
We ate dinner at Frog's, then went on to Sonka's and Ambro's. I had at least a shot of tequila and lost several times at pool. Spuddo says he's going to sit me in his basement with a physics book and a pool table, since the only time I was ever decent at pool was when I studied those collisions in physics. Plus, we were in Greenbank, WV at the radio telescopes and there wasn't anything else to do.

It's Birthday Eve!

Again

For the second Thursday in a row, I turned my ankle at football practice. Now it's swollen on both side and kind of turning colors. Probably won't get to play the Vixens tomorrow and I'll also probably take next week of from practice to heal. The big problem is going to be moving... all those stairs. And they boy's leaving on Thursday to help his best friend for forever move from Arizona instead of helping his girlfriend of five months move. That bastard- where are his priorities?

Also, I crave Krispy Kremes

Mmm.... Aural Pleasure

Symbion Project remixes, from the former Splashdown member Kasson that remixed UHP's Drgonfly. I'm expecially grooving to Synthesized (with vocals from Freezepop's Liz Enthusiasm) and Cool Baby.

Suck

Finally got a moving date from the landlady- it's Friday the 13th, the same day we leave for an away game at Toledo. Anybody willing to help me move that day- things will all be in boxes and I'm only moving half a block- will recieve free beer.

Grrr

I finally have to blog about my soon-to-be-ex roommate.

She drives me crazy. In the "I can definitely tell you're an only child and have never really understood co-habitation" kind of way. And she doesn't understand how to clean. To her, a clean floor is one she ran her vacuum over. Her vacuum that doesn't pick up anything. Even if there's still visible pieces of dirt on the floor, she's vaccuumed and it must be clean.

At the beginning of the year, She borrowed my extra rug, one that I don't really like, but it kind of went with her room, much better than it went with anything else in the apartment. Last week, she decided that she was going to tell me that she'd be in town today and wanted to get my desk and rug out of her room. Today, I asked if she'd vacuumed the rug before giving it back and she assured me that she had. As she carried it, I watched things drop out of the rolled up carpet. When I unrolled it to check, it was brown. My carpet is black. Taking it outside and shaking it would have gotten it cleaner. So I re-vacuumed it in front of her, where it changed colors every time I rolled my vacuum (in the hall closet, available for use by both my apartment and apartment two houses down) over it. Ugh.

Another Article

IndyStar has another article about Indiana Speed!

We won our game yesterday 14-12, it was very exicitng, though I didn't get to play much because of my ankle. Something about it not really being ankle-shaped...
